Why are red tomatoes?
Why are Red tomatoes
Tomatoes are red because tomatoes contain two pigments. One is chlorophyll and the other is lycopene.Chlorophyll is present when tomatoes grow from small to large when they catch on the plant.Tomatoes are then green in color. As tomatoes grow and ripen, chlorophyll breaks down and lycopene appears.Tomatoes are red because of lycopene. And tomatoes are green because of chlorophyll.Lycopene is an organic compound and plays an important role.
